Lesson 14 Bepergian Travel
VALIDATION COPY 1.0 JUNE 2007
This lesson covers topics that are related to commercial travel, such as buying a train or bus ticket, navigating within transportation terminals, and understanding transportation schedules. In this lesson, you will also learn vocabulary and procedures that deal with border crossings and road blocks.
Indonesians are more than willing to give you directions. However, because they wish to be perceived as polite and helpful, some Indonesians will offer directions even when they do not know how to get to where you want to go. Always place your question at the beginning of your conversation when you need directions. This will make your question more easily understood. It is also more polite to preface any request for directions by the phrase, “Tolong tan” (literally, “Ask help”) or “Boleh saya tanya” (May I ask). Example: Tolong tanya dimana tempat untuk beli karcis kereta api? (Please, where is the place to buy train tickets?)
